A leading healthcare provider in Pennsylvania seeks a Paramedic to provide advanced life support and ensure effective patient care and safety during flights. In this role, you will collaborate with medical teams, maintain necessary certifications, and engage in continuous education while working in dynamic environments. Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills and a commitment to patient safety.
Provides paramedic level advanced life support until patient care is relinquished to accepting medical facility.
Maintains thorough patient care documentation in the electronic medical record.
Practices within the paramedic scope of practice as defined by Command Physician, or as needed under the written guidelines of the Emergency Health Services Council Regional Protocols or the Department of Health Emergency Medical Services ACT.
Maintains competency in knowledge and psychomotor skills by participating in ongoing laboratory and clinical experiences.
Communicates educational needs to Life Flight Program Coordinator, Operations Director, and MD Director.
Acquires the F-PC credential within one year of hire.
Sets up sterile trays using aseptic techniques.
Maintains medical interior of the Life Flight helicopters.
Ensures adequate inventory of supplies and equipment.
Maintains an orderly environment in the glasshouse and hangar.
Functions as a Flight Crew member and assists the pilot when needed.
Assists in the Communication center as required.
Complies with safety standards to ensure safety of self, medical crew members, patient, and equipment during all phases of flight.
Maintains good communication and positive interpersonal relationships.
Participates in patient follow-up as outlined in guidelines.
Engages in planned marketing and teaching activities.
Serves as a role model, teacher, and clinical resource.
Acts as a preceptor and participates in the orientation of new employees and students as assigned.
Acts as a liaison and communicates program goals and objectives.
Participates in staff development and continuing education programs.
Assists in conducting safety briefings as needed.
Maintains awareness of current issues related to paramedics through participation in professional activities.
Participates regularly in departmental activities, projects, and committees.
Participates in Performance Improvement activities as assigned.
Undertakes and maintains projects as assigned.
Actively participates in patient safety improvement and management programs.
Participates in organizational and departmental patient safety education programs and other activities aimed at improving patient safety.
Reports serious events and incidents promptly in accordance with hospital policy and procedure.
Work Environment: Works in a patient care environment around aircraft, exposed to infectious diseases, chemical toxins, noise, vibration, jet fumes, and extreme temperatures. May require sitting for long periods in helicopters or offices. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Travel may be required. Employees may not exceed 250 lbs in flight gear. Must comply with all policies and procedures.
