Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Huntsville, AL, is seeking an Operations Lead to oversee day-to-day mission, test, and launch activities. You will lead technicians, assign shifts, and ensure work follows procedures with emphasis on safety and quality.

You will coach teammates, support onboarding and training, and maintain strong communication with engineering, planning, logistics, safety, and quality teams. Relocation is available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years hands-on experience in mission/flight operations, launch/test operations, aerospace/industrial systems, or related operations.
• 1+ year frontline leadership directing technicians or operators.
• Experience with complex or hazardous systems (cryogenic, high‑pressure, etc.).
• Ability to read and follow technical documentation (procedures, drawings, schematics).
• Proven ability to plan and prioritize daily work for a team while meeting safety, quality, and schedule commitments.
• Basic proficiency with digital tools and ability to learn new tools quickly.

Responsibilities

• Lead technicians/operators in day-to-day mission, test, and launch operations with emphasis on safety and quality.
• Plan, assign, and monitor work, including shift coverage and overtime.
• Ensure work adheres to procedures, drawings, and safety/quality requirements.
• Provide hands-on technical support for integration, checkout, test, and operations of flight and ground systems.
• Conduct performance check-ins, coach and mentor team members.
• Support hiring, onboarding, training, and recognition for the team.
• Communicate work status, issues, and risks to leadership and partner teams.
• Foster a strong safety culture; identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements to safety, quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
• Maintain clean, organized, compliant work areas (5S, clean-as-you-go, tool/FOD control).
