Job summary

Intermountain Health seeks an experienced Instructor / Check Airman Pilot to lead pilot training, conducting proficiency checks and IOE in alignment with FAA regulations. The role emphasizes safety, leadership, and ongoing development across flight operations.

You will deliver instruction, update training materials, mentor pilots, and support regulatory audits while collaborating with the Chief Pilot to address training needs and improvements.

Qualifications

• FAA certifications: Commercial Pilot Certificate or an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate; appropriate helicopter or airplane rating
• Current FAA Second-Class Medical Certificate (or higher)
• Instrument Rating - Helicopter
• VFR/IFR 2,000 hours of total flight time
• VFR/IFR 100 hours of unaided night flight time

Responsibilities

• Conducts pilot proficiency checks, evaluations, and IOE in accordance with FAA regulations and company policies.
• Delivers flight and ground instruction for initial, recurrent, and upgrade training programs.
• Assess pilot performance and provide feedback to improve skills and ensure compliance.
• Develops and updates training materials, lesson plans, and SOPs.
• Collaborates with the Chief Pilot to address training needs and operational improvements.
• Mentors pilots to promote growth and development.
• Supports safety programs by identifying risks and recommending mitigations.
• Maintains accurate training records, evaluations, and regulatory documentation.
• Assists in recruitment and onboarding of new pilots through evaluations and interviews.
• Acts as SME during regulatory audits and inspections.
