Job summary

Intermountain Health seeks an Instructor/Check Airman Pilot to lead flight training and oversee regulatory compliance for a team of pilots. The role conducts proficiency checks, IOE, and evaluates performance to uphold safety standards.

The position involves developing training materials, mentoring staff, and collaborating with the Chief Pilot on improvements while ensuring accurate records and adherence to FAA requirements.

Qualifications

• FAA certifications and flight credentials required for rotorcraft operations.
• Experience meeting FAA rules during pilot evaluations and training.
• Ability to develop and update SOPs and training materials.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pilot proficiency checks, evaluations, and IOE per FAA rules.
• Deliver flight and ground instruction for initial, recurrent, and upgrade training.
• Assess performance and provide actionable feedback to improve skills.
• Coordinate with Chief Pilot to address training needs and improvements.
• Mentor pilots and participate in safety programs and audits.

Commercial Pilot Certificate or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate; helicopter or airplane rating

Current FAA Second-Class Medical Certificate (or higher)

Instrument Rating – Helicopter

VFR / IFR 2,000 hours of total flight time

VFR / IFR 100 hours of unaided night flight time

VFR 100 hours (IFR 500 hours) cross-country flight experience (25 hours at night)

IFR 75 actual or simulated instrument hours (50 must be in actual flight)

VFR / IFR Pass a part 14 CFR 135.293 check ride within the first 60 days of hire

IFR Pass a part 14 CFR 139.297 instrument proficiency ride within 12 months of hire
