Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop and maintain flight software in a Linux environment. You will work across the full software lifecycle and collaborate with hardware, firmware, and systems teams to ensure reliable, high-performance embedded solutions.

The role requires 4+ years of C/C++ experience in embedded systems, familiarity with RTOS such as VxWorks, and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. This contract-to-hire position is onsite in Warner Robins, GA.

Qualifications

• Strong C/C++ in embedded environment.
• Experience with Linux for development/integration.
• OO programming fundamentals in embedded systems.
• Ability to lead on complex technical problems.
• Excellent communication with leadership, suppliers, and stakeholders.
• BS degree in CS/CE/EE required.
• 4+ years in C/C++ in embedded environments.
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance; active clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, modify, and maintain embedded flight software per standards.
• Participate in full SDLC including requirements, design, testing, and maintenance.
• Integrate software with firmware and hardware components.
• Lead technical issues and guide team members.
• Document designs, tests, and results for verification and maintenance.
• Support formal system testing and defect analysis.
• Collaborate with program leadership, suppliers, and government stakeholders.
