Job summary

Joby Aviation is seeking a Systems Engineer to own the architecture, integration, and life-cycle success of avionics systems, collaborating with Software, Hardware and GNC teams. You will lead requirements, safety analyses, and verification efforts to ensure certification and entry into service.

Ideal candidates have a BS in Aerospace, Systems, or Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of systems engineering experience on safety-critical vehicles, plus familiarity with Jama, Polarion, or DOORS,

Qualifications

• BS in Aerospace, Systems, or Electrical Engineering (or related).
• Bachelor's degree +5years experience; Advanced degree +3 years experience.
• Experience with safety and reliability analyses such as SSA, FHA, and FMECA.
• Proficiency with requirements management and traceability tools (e.g., Jama, Polarion, DOORS).
• This position must meet US export control compliance requirements; must qualify as a “US Person.”

Responsibilities

• Lead the definition and management of system-level requirements and traceability.
• Conduct trade studies and lead make versus buy decisions.
• Drive System Safety Assessments (SSA), FHA, and FMECA for autonomous systems.
• Serve as the glue between Software, Hardware, Flight Controls, and GCS teams.
• Define the master verification plan and determine validation methods.
• Lead Technical Readiness Reviews (TRR) and Flight Readiness Reviews (FRR).
• Mentor project systems engineers and standardize engineering workflows.
