Job summary

St. Luke's Health System in Twin Falls, Idaho is seeking a flex Lab Assistant to provide fill-in coverage for weekends, holidays, and PTOs within the Magic Valley Laboratory.

You will support pre-analytical processing, specimen labeling and handling, and basic testing under direct supervision, with on-site duties and patient interaction as needed. This position offers competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Education: High school Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: 0 years’ experience.
• Licenses/Certifications: None

Responsibilities

• Transcribe laboratory testing orders efficiently and accurately.
• Ensure specimens are properly identified, labeled, collected, and stored.
• Basic specimen processing. - Distribute or track specimens to the appropriate areas of the laboratory for testing.
• Basic knowledge of specimen collections from individuals of varying ages, diverse physical and mental disabilities, and health conditions.
• Explain collection procedures and provide patient instructions to ensure the accurate collection or preparation of specimens, to facilitate patient/caregiver understanding, and to reduce patient anxiety. Handle basic patient complications and elevate patient concerns to leadership.
• Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
• May register patients or provide courier services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
