Job summary

Archdiocese of St. Louis Catholic Education and Formation seeks a substitute teacher to cover classes when regular teachers are unavailable. You will follow provided lesson plans, maintain classroom order, and ensure student safety.

You may work across various grade levels and subjects, reporting to the principal. This temporary, on-call position requires strong communication and adaptability to changing daily assignments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• Bachelor's degree in education or a related field preferred.
• Teaching certification or substitute teacher permit may be required.
• Prior teaching or classroom experience preferred but not always required.

Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans provided by the absent teacher or school administration.
• Deliver instructional content to students using appropriate materials, tools, and resources.
• Adapt lessons to meet students' needs and abilities.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environment.
• Enforce school rules and policies to ensure smooth classroom operation.
• Manage student behavior and address disruptions appropriately.
• Engage students in learning activities and provide guidance to help understanding.
• Administer quizzes, tests, and other assessments as needed.
