Job summary

Whispering Wind Academy in Paradise Valley, AZ is seeking a SPED Instructional Assistant (Flexible/Part-Time) to support students with special needs in general and self-contained classrooms. The role involves 1:1 support where needed, supervision, and assisting with implementation of IEP plans.

The position is a timesheet/temporary role with a starting date of immediately and a flexible schedule of 1–29 hours per week, including Mondays through Fridays as needed.

Qualifications

• SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
• KNOWLEDGE includes basic math, reading manuals, writing documents, and following complex instructions.
• ABILITY requires scheduling, data gathering, and teamwork while maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities and materials under the supervising teacher to support objectives.
• Administers tests, homework, and make-up work to support teachers.
• Provides first aid and medical assistance as directed by health professionals.
• Assists medically fragile or disabled students with personal care and supervision.
• Attends meetings and trainings to relay information relevant to job functions.
• Communicates with staff and parents to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
