Job summary

Griffin-Spalding County School System is seeking a qualified Substitute Nurse to provide essential nursing services in a school-based setting in Griffin, GA. The role supports continuity of health care when the regular nurse is unavailable and promotes student well-being, safety, and academic success across the district.

The substitute nurse will review medical alert cards, manage routine illnesses, administer medications per policy, and participate in health screenings.

Qualifications

• Valid Georgia LPN certificate/licensure.
• Current CPR certification.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality about student health information.
• Strong communication with students, families, teachers, and administrators.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultative and follow-up health services to students, parents, and staff.
• Assess illnesses/injuries and determine need for emergency services.
• Administer and store student medications per district policy.
• Support health screenings such as vision, hearing, and scoliosis checks.
• Provide skilled nursing care for students with special health needs as required.
• Maintain confidential clinic records and immunization documentation.
