Job summary

Kroger in Cicero, IL is seeking a friendly cashier/courtesy clerk to create outstanding customer experiences by greeting shoppers, answering questions, and helping them find items.

You will process transactions using the POS, handle various payment methods, adhere to loss-prevention and age-restricted-item policies, maintain a safe clean environment, and support teammates in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers at the check lane.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand the POS system and handle cash, checks, credit/debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, coupons and loyalty offers.
• Adhere to cash-handling limits and loss-prevention policies.
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Support safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and report repairs as needed.
• Create a welcoming environment and assist customers with product questions.
• Adhere to laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment and manage conflicts calmly.
• Act with honesty and integrity in customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help when needed.
• Provide assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
