Job summary

Greensville Correctional Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (PRN) to provide professional nursing care within a correctional setting under Virginia’s Department of Corrections. The role involves flexible hours up to an average of 29 hours per week, with a pay rate of $50.00 per hour and mandatory BLS certification.

Applicants must hold a Virginia RN license and pass background checks; background investigations and drug screening may apply. This is a wage position with no state benefits.

Qualifications

• Possess and maintain valid unrestricted Virginia RN license (NCLEX-RN exam scheduling for new grads)
• Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Deliver 24-hour nursing care, telemedicine, chronic care clinics, sick call screenings/triage, medication administration, patient education, and basic life support/emergency care as assigned.
• Document health records and maintain confidentiality; coordinate with other departments as needed.
• Delegate tasks/workload and adjust hours and locations to meet institutional needs.
