Job summary

Nottoway Correctional Center seeks a Registered Nurse (PRN) to deliver professional nursing care using the nursing process for adult inmates. The role emphasizes correctional care standards, confidentiality, and interdepartmental collaboration in a secure facility.

The position is wage-based, with no state benefits, and requires Virginia RN licensure and current BLS. Applications are submitted electronically through the Commonwealth system and monitored for eligibility.

Qualifications

• Valid unrestricted Virginia RN license.
• BLS certification from AHA or ARC required on hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care within adult institutions by using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementing, evaluating).
• Deliver 24-hour nursing care, telemedicine, chronic care clinics, triage and medication administration per standards.
• Document all pertinent health information into the health record and maintain confidentiality.
• Delegate tasks/workload and adjust hours and locations as assigned to meet institutional needs.
• Provide evidence-based nursing care and pursue ongoing education/certification in correctional nursing.
• Be prepared to be assigned to other duties/locations to meet clinical and administrative needs.
