Job summary

Sanford Health in Bismarck, ND seeks a skilled Cardiac Ultrasound Technician to perform echocardiography exams in clinic, hospital, and mobile sites as needed. You will prepare patients, operate ultrasound equipment, and generate images for interpretation by physicians, while adhering to ASE standards and HIPAA policies.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited cardiac sonography program; or equivalent state-specific experience.
• ND: one year of cardiac sonography experience or approved allied health certificate/diploma.
• SD: ARDMS/CCI or registry eligible within 12 months; other states: ARRT/ARDMS/CCI eligibility within 18 months.
• NDMIRT licensure required if performing imaging in North Dakota.
• Outreach/mobile work requires valid driver's license and good driving record.
• BLS certification within six weeks of employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs echocardiography tests/procedures following ASE standards.
• Prepares patients, explains procedures, transfers to table, positions correctly and operates equipment.
• Produces and records images for medical diagnosis and submits preliminary findings to physician.
• Trains students and cardiac sonographers as needed; adheres to HIPAA and safety policies.
• May include ultrasonography tasks depending on facility; supports accreditation activities.

Education

Cardiac sonography program (2-year)

Allied health certificate/diploma

ND licensure for imaging (NDMIRT)

ARDMS/CCI or registry eligible within 12 months

ARRT/ARDMS/CCI registry eligible within 18 months

1 year cardiac sonography experience (or on-the-job training)

BLS certification within six weeks
