Job summary

Sanford Health in Bismarck, ND is seeking a qualified cardiac sonographer to perform echocardiography studies across clinical, hospital, and mobile sites. You will prepare patients, operate ultrasound equipment, and provide preliminary findings to physicians.

Requirements include accredited cardiac ultrasound training, ND licensure if applicable, BLS within six weeks, and ARDMS/CCI or registry eligibility with ongoing credentialing; outreach may require travel and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited two-year Cardiac Ultrasound Program required.
  • ND preferred: allied health certificate/diploma in imaging modality.
  • Minimum of one year work experience in cardiac sonography for ND.
  • In all other states: ARRT, ARDMS, or CCI credentialing or registry eligibility within 18 months.
  • ARDMS or CCI with registry eligibility required within 12 months (ND for ARDMS/CCI).
  • North Dakota licensure through ND MIRT is required if performing medical imaging.
  • Drivers must have a valid license and good driving record for outreach sites.
  • BLS certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Performs echocardiography tests according to American Society of Echocardiography standards.
  • Prepares patients by explaining procedures, transferring to table, applying gel, and positioning.
  • Operates ultrasound equipment to produce and record images of heart structures and motion.
  • Provides oral and/or written preliminary findings to the interpreting physician for diagnosis.
  • Assists in IAC accreditation and adheres to HIPAA and safety policies.
  • Supervises or trains students and cardiac sonographers as needed.
