Job summary

West Haven Community House is seeking a per diem custodian to support cleaning and maintenance across our facilities in West Haven, CT. The role involves flexible hours, security duties, and adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities include cleaning, snow removal, equipment operation, supply management, and setting up spaces for meetings and events, with training provided for OSHA and Bloodborne pathogens as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Three years of custodial experience.
• Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products, and equipment.
• Knowledge of workplace hazardous materials information systems.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain training as required (OSHA, Bloodborne Pathogens, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize classrooms to WHCH standards following checklists and procedures.
• Perform cleaning and related activities such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs.
• Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools for cleaning and maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
• Provide security for buildings, grounds, and parking lots while on duty.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and advise supervisor when replenishment is needed.
• Set up facilities for meetings, classes, conferences, events, etc.
