Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Patient Care Tech Float for part-time shifts in Illinois. The role supports nursing staff by performing basic patient care activities under RN supervision, including vital signs, glucose checks, and ADL assistance.

You will help maintain a clean, safe unit while prioritizing patient needs and coordinating with other departments. Required: High School diploma or equivalent, CNA/EMT or nursing student with clinical rotation, and CPR–BLS.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Nursing students with one clinical rotation or CNA, CMA or EMT credentials are required.
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Assistant program is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitors vital signs and records intake and output as delegated by an RN.
• Assists with activities of daily living and personal care.
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff promptly.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates multitasking and stays organized under stress.
• Acts as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answers calls and communicates with staff and family as needed.
• Manages unit workflow with the charge RN when required.
• Performs census-related tasks and validates admission/discharge lists.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Nursing students with one clinical rotation or CNA or CMA or EMT

Graduate of an accredited Nursing Assistant program
