Job summary

The Clark Public Library in Clark, NJ is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to join our front desk team. The ideal candidate will handle circulation duties, greet visitors, check items in/out, register members, and answer questions with courtesy. This role requires flexibility to work days, evenings, and one weekend rotation per month across about 20 hours per week, with shifts between 9 a.m.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Fluency in English and strong communication skills.
• Ability to operate a computer, phone, library software, web browser and email.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors and provide circulation desk service.
• Check in/out, registration, and renewals.
• Answer phones and forward calls as needed.
• Assist patrons with directions and general inquiries.
• Shelve books alphabetically and by Dewey Decimal; locate materials by call number.
• Prepare library materials for circulation/use.
• Assist patrons with copiers and printers.
• Enforce policies and provide excellent customer service.
• Process new materials and routine repairs.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
