Job summary

Carilion Clinic is seeking a Paramedic to administer life-support care and transport patients in both ground and air settings. The role operates under physician direction with ACLS‑level procedures, IV starts, and advanced life support in a fast-paced 911 environment.

The position requires Virginia paramedic certification and ongoing continuing education; excellent communication and driving safety records are essential to coordinate care and ensure patient safety.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
• Licensure/Certification: Virginia Paramedic; AHA BLS‑HCP, ACLS, PALS, HazMat Awareness, NRP and PHTLS or BTLS within one year.

Responsibilities

• Administers life-support care and transports patients in pre-hospital settings as authorized by a physician.
• Responds to medical emergencies in a 911 setting and protects life by administering cardiac and trauma support when needed.
• Initiates IV drugs and emergency procedures per ACLS protocol.
• Transports patients to hospitals and non-hospital sites while observing safety guidelines.
