Job summary

Requires Virginia Paramedic certification, BLS-HCP, ACLS, PALS, HazMat Awareness, NRP and PHTLS/BTLS within one year. Driving record must meet eligibility requirements; strong communication skills essential.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• No experience required.
• Certified in Virginia as a Paramedic; AHA BLS - HCP; ACLS, PALS, Haz Mat Awareness, NRP and PHTLS or BTLS required within one year from date of hire.
• Maintains advanced transport medical knowledge and abilities; maintains an excellent driving record and may operate vehicle to emergency scene.
• Utilizes excellent communication skills with staff, peers, patients and family in diverse situations.

Responsibilities

• Administers life support care and transports patients in pre-hospital settings as directed by physician.
• Performs skills related to acute/non-acute settings in ground/air transport; responds to medical emergencies (911) and provides cardiac and trauma support.
• Gathers and analyzes information; observes patient condition and response to treatments; reports to physician or command center.
