Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama seeks a Medical Scribe to support providers by handling documentation and efficiency management in the electronic chart system. This non-clinical, unlicensed role observes encounters, enters information under supervision, and ensures notes reflect the provider’s work with attestation.

Shifts are flexi/PRN with schedules Sunday through Saturday, up to 25 hours per week. Eligible positions include robust educational assistance and generous PTO.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED with healthcare or pre-health background.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clerical skills required.
• Experience with medical documentation and EHR is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Relieve provider of clerical duties to allow focus on clinical care.
• Document patient encounters under provider direction in the EHR.
• Review and edit scribed notes to ensure accuracy and attestation.
