Job summary

Boulder Public Library District seeks Library Specialist Substitute to support patrons with information needs and create a welcoming environment. Shifts are variable, including evenings and weekends, often with short notice, and may be scheduled at any library location.

This substitute role has no guaranteed hours. Responsibilities include reference assistance, technology support, and handling library accounts, with opening/closing duties and safety responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and past work or volunteer experience in a library, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Self-directed and collaborative. Skilled with cash handling.
• Intermediate skills with using personal computers, data entry, and using information databases.

Responsibilities

• Provides reference, reader’s advisory, technology, research databases, and library account assistance to patrons at public service desks and by phone.
• Performs opening and closing duties and provides back-up support to colleagues.
• Communicates effectively with team members to ensure efficient operations.
• Prioritizes tasks and shifts attention as needed to complete daily work.
• Ensures safety by using required safety equipment and following procedures; reports accidents and damage.
