Job summary

Responsibilities

• Ensures specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing; resolves identification and requisition issues.
• Performs limited testing under CLIA guidelines per policies and procedures.
• Maintains equipment with preventative maintenance and runs quality control checks.
• Enters laboratory results and verifies test requests in the computer system.
• Notifies providers of stat, critical, and abnormal results per policy.
• Obtains billing/insurance information and verifies diagnosis codes.
• Screens phone calls and assists with inventory and ordering of supplies.
• Receives, sorts, stores, and transports specimens; handles pre-analytical steps.
• Generates and distributes reports; maintains orders and correspondence.
• Acts as a resource and trains new staff.
