Job summary

Community Services Group is seeking a/ an experienced Peer Support Specialist to assist individuals in their recovery journey and connect them with community resources. You will use personal recovery experiences to guide others and promote self-directed recovery under supervision of the Program Director.

This PRN position operates within Adult Mental Health Services Peer Support, offering flexible hours to align with program needs and ongoing training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Attestation of having a mental health diagnosis and recovery.
• Completed high school diploma or equivalent.
• Completed and passed a peer specialist training and PCB certification.

Responsibilities

• Supports individuals in the recovery process through coaching, mentoring, and community integration.
• Identifies abilities and strengths to help achieve goals.
• Interviews individuals to assess satisfaction with services.
• Advocates for support of individuals.
• Uses community resources to promote independence and integration.
• Helps individuals articulate recovery goals and monitors progress.
• Learns and models trauma-informed care principles (safety, choice, collaboration, trust, empowerment).
• Promotes diversity, equity, inclusion in services.
• Comfortable sharing personal recovery experiences to inspire others.
• Engages individuals based on their receptivity and needs.
