Job summary

Nurse Next Door in Oakland is seeking compassionate home care aides to support seniors at home, with a focus on nonmedical services and safety.

As a home care aide, you will follow care plans, assist with ADLs, hygiene, transfers, meals, transport, and documentation, while maintaining strict privacy and compliance.

This role offers flexible 10–40 hour weeks, paid training, and the opportunity to grow within a trusted senior care network.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Current CA Home Care Aide Registry registration.
• Criminal background check completed; disclose history.
• Complete paid training and CA registration process.
• Evidence of TB testing; no active TB.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Self-directed with minimal supervision.
• Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, or frail.
• Tact, patience, and good personal hygiene.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Execute the client’s care plan as outlined by the Care Designer.
• Help clients with ADLs within the scope of practice for a Registered Health Care Aide.
• Assist with personal hygiene such as skin, mouth, hair care, bathing and dressing.
• Assist clients in and out of bed, transfers, positioning and ambulation.
• Assist with prescribed exercises which clients and aides have been taught by appropriate health personnel.
• Meal planning and preparation, including therapeutic diets, and assisting clients with eating.
• Assist clients to the bathroom or in using commodes, bedpans or urinals and incontinence care.
• Perform household services including housekeeping, laundry, transportation, correspondence, making telephone calls, shopping for personal care items or groceries, and companionship.
• Assisting clients with medications reminders which are ordinarily self-administered.
• Reporting changes in the client's condition and needs to the administrator or care designer.
• Completing records regarding services performed.
• Driving to appointments or to run errands.
• Accurately records all hours worked.
• Remains alert throughout the shift in case client requires assistance, responds immediately to any such needs by providing the assistance required, or calling the Company for guidance.
• Participating in all required entry-level and annual training requirements.
• Maintaining an active home care aide registration with the State of Ca. Dept. of Social Services Home Care Services Bureau.
• Other duties as assigned by the administrator or designee.
