Job summary

At Peace Health Care Agency is seeking an experienced Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide person-centered care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in home and community settings. The role emphasizes daily living support, behavioral management, and promoting community participation with privacy and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• Previous DSP experience is required.
• Experience supporting individuals with IDD and/or Autism.
• Experience working with behavioral needs and BSPs preferred.
• Knowledge of person-centered care and individual rights.
• Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Compassionate, patient, dependable, and adaptable.
• Ability to assist with personal care and mobility needs.
• Ability to work independently and responsibly.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support with ADLs, personal care, mobility, and daily routines.
• Support individuals with IDD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and behavioral needs.
• Implement Individualized Support Plans and Behavioral Support Plans (BSPs).
• Promote independence, dignity, choice, and community involvement.
• Provide companionship and support during community activities and appointments.
• Assist with transportation as needed.
• Monitor and document progress, services, and daily activities accurately.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and person-centered environment.
• Protect individual confidentiality and follow HIPAA and agency policies.
• Communicate effectively with individuals, families, and the care team.
