Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System invites a detail-oriented Certified Coder I to join our Omaha team at the Methodist Corporate Office. You will review CPT/ICD-10-CM codes, attach modifiers, and ensure accurate charges across outpatient and hospital services.

This full-time role emphasizes timely claims submission and coding compliance. Ideal candidates bring CPC/COC/CCA/CCS-P or RHIT certification (or active registration), plus college-level anatomy, physiology, biology, and medical terminology

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
College level coursework in anatomy/physiology, biology, disease processes, and medical terminology required.
Associate's degree in health information management or related field preferred.
Certification as CPC/COC/CCA/CCS-P or RHIT required or active registration.

Responsibilities

Review CPT and ICD-10-CM codes for professional and hospital services to ensure accurate billing.
Attach modifiers and adjust charges to reflect CPT coding guidelines.
Maintain accounts receivable within 3–5 days of discharge for outpatient encounters.
Meet productivity standards: coding radiology/diagnostic, pathology, recurring, ED, professional services, GI lab, and pain management encounters.
Investigate and correct claim denials by reviewing services and patient accounts.
Review Medicare and commercial correspondence for updates and educate on billing changes.
