Phillips Tank & Structure (PTS) in Braddock, PA, is hiring a full-time Fab Shop Welder with Pipe Welding Experience. You will read blueprints and drawings, set up components, and weld parts to exact specifications.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Eligible to work in the United States.
• Willing to authorize background check.
• No criminal convictions for dishonesty, sexual misconduct, violence, or acts of terrorism.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable, insured transportation.
• Willing to authorize motor vehicle driving record checks.
• Willing to submit to pre-hire, random, and post-incident drug and alcohol testing.
• Good communication skills.
• Good attendance and punctuality.
• Strong basic math and measuring skills.
• Able to lift 50 lbs.
• Pass welding tests for stick and flux core.
• Eye for quality and attention to detail.
• Self-motivated and eager to learn and improve.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and measurements to plan layout and procedures.
• Determine welding equipment or method based on requirements.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications and drawings.
• Operate tools and equipment to prepare the parts to be welded.
• Align components using jigs, clamps, calipers, rulers, and other devices.
• Weld components in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead).
• Assist with repairing machinery or equipment by welding pieces and filling gaps.
• Perform non-destructive examination methods, including visual examination and vacuum box tests.
• Use a variety of welding tools and equipment, power or pneumatic tools, lifting equipment, etc.
• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, safe condition and follow safety procedures.
• Align, fit and tack steel shapes with temporary erection gear and pry bars.
• Erect and dismantle temporary scaffolding on job sites if needed.
• Perform basic safety checks and preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Inspect, set up, use, break down and rig equipment as needed.
• Use safety equipment including hardhat, safety glasses, full body harness, earplugs, respiratory protection, gloves.
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
