Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Motor Vehicle Technician II to perform skilled mechanical work on fleet vehicles at Kerrville State Hospital. Duties include exchanging/rebuilding engines, transmissions, brakes and related systems, plus electrical and cooling repairs, with emphasis on preventive maintenance and timely service.

Responsibilities include accurate documentation, adherence to safety guidelines, and potential rotation for disaster response.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine powered equipment.
• Knowledge of Preventive Maintenance Schedules.
• Valid Driver’s License and eligible driving record required by HHSC Fleet Management policy.

Responsibilities

• General automotive/mechanical repairs including engine, carburetors, transmissions, brakes and related assemblies.
• Perform preventive maintenance schedules and routine service work on fleet vehicles.
• Document maintenance and repairs accurately and timely.
• Assist with safety compliance and recordkeeping as required by policy.
• May participate in disaster response or COOP activities as needed.
