Job summary

The City of Anaheim Public Works Department is seeking an experienced Vehicle Technician II to perform journey-level maintenance and repair of gasoline, diesel, and alternative-fuel vehicles, motorcycles, and related equipment. The Auto Shop vacancy offers a team-oriented environment and opportunities to work on a wide range of systems.

The ideal candidate has 3 years of hands-on experience, strong customer service values, and can document work in the fleet management system.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience as a vehicle and equipment mechanic.
• ASE certifications in Auto or Medium/Heavy Truck preferred within 12 months.
• Must provide own basic mechanics hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Lubricate and change oil on light and heavy vehicles.
• Perform diagnostics and repair mechanical and electrical malfunctions.
• Inspect and repair braking, HVAC, and emissions systems.
• Record maintenance in fleet management system and time worked.
• Perform safety inspections and on-call emergency repairs as needed.
• Assist and mentor Vehicle Technician I incumbents.
