Job summary

WMATA in the Washington, DC region seeks a Manager, Vehicle Engineering to plan, direct, and coordinate the Vehicle Engineering Branch of BUSV. You will oversee bus development, procurement, and rehabilitation programs within strict cost and schedule constraints to meet operational needs.

You will lead engineers and consultants, manage budgets, and collaborate with operations, maintenance, safety, and procurement teams to advance new propulsion technologies and improve fleet safety and

Qualifications

• Knowledge of budget formulation, scheduling, maintenance, and control.
• Knowledge of engineering science and technology for design and production.
• Knowledge of contracts, procurement, and project management.
• Experience supervising and coordinating staff on complex engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Participates in procurement efforts, identifying problems and coordinating corrective actions.
• Monitors project scope, resources, and budgets to meet goals.
• Leads customer-focused engineering reviews and contract management.
• Directs configuration control and vehicle rehabilitation programs.
• Sets objectives, evaluates staff, and ensures training.
• Reviews designs, performs testing, and ensures compliance with specs.
• Oversees performance of manufacturers and budget adherence.
