Job summary

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) seeks a Manager, Vehicle Engineering to lead the Vehicle Engineering Branch within the Department of Bus Services. You will direct bus development, rehabilitation contracts, and related technical services while meeting cost and schedule targets.

You will collaborate with operations, maintenance, safety, procurement, and training teams to advance propulsion technologies and deliver engineering solutions that improve safety, reliability,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
• Eight years of experience in vehicle engineering project and contract management.
• Experience supervising engineering design, installation, and maintenance effort.
• ASE certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in procurement efforts and analyzes design and procurement issues.
• Ensures item availability meets project needs with optimal resources.
• Coordinates with equipment engineers for vehicle design and related activities.
• Represents the contracting officer in vehicle design/procurement meetings.
• Develops QA and project evaluation programs for major rehabilitation of the fleet.
• Directs vehicle configuration control and rehabilitation/replacement programs.
• Establishes production/quality standards and provides technical direction.
• Supervises staff and ensures training and development.
