Job summary
WMATA is seeking an experienced Manager, Vehicle Engineering, Bus to lead strategy for 1,400+ buses and support vehicles serving the Washington, DC region. You will drive safety, reliability, sustainability, and performance while advancing innovative vehicle technologies.
You will oversee the Vehicle Engineering Branch, coordinate with operations, maintenance, safety, procurement, and training teams, and guide fleet modernization and propulsion initiatives within cost and schedule constraints.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field is required.
- Minimum eight years of experience in technical vehicle engineering project and contract management.
- ASE certification is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Participates in all procurement efforts and recommends actions.
- Ensures project scope aligns with schedule and budget.
- Reviews engineering docs and testing procedures across systems.
- Directs configuration control and vehicle replacement programs.
- Supervises staff and ensures training and development.
