Job summary

City of Austin is seeking a tire technician to support fleet maintenance across multiple locations. You will mount,dismount, and repair tires on a variety of vehicles and equipment, read technical manuals, and maintain safe work practices.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and six months of related experience; experience with heavy equipment and wheels is preferred. CTS certification within six months of hire is encouraged, and travel between locations may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus six months of related experience.
• Experience may substitute education up to four years.
• Experience with commercial, medium-duty and heavy-duty tires.
• Experience mounting/dismounting steel and aluminum wheels.
• Experience with retread programs and/or casing evaluation.
• Experience operating forklifts in a shop or warehouse environment.
• Experience managing inventory and shop supplies.
• TIA commercial Tire Services (CTS) certification, or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
• Ability to travel to multiple work locations.
