Job summary

City of Conroe seeks a Fleet Technician II to perform diagnostics, maintenance and major repairs on diesel trucks, fire apparatus and heavy equipment. The role requires ASE/MACS certifications, a Texas CDL and safety credentials, with on-call duties during emergencies.

The technician will use advanced diagnostic tools, read schematics, and work with a variety of engines, transmissions and hydraulic systems to ensure fleet readiness and safety.

Qualifications

• Formal training or five years of fleet maintenance experience.
• Master ASE in Automotive or Medium/Heavy Truck or Transit required.
• MACS Freon, automotive A/C and emissions certs required.
• Texas Class B CDL must be obtained within 12 months.
• Texas Safety and Emissions Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform fleet inspections and repairs across a range of vehicles and equipment.
• Disassemble and reassemble engines, transmissions or hydraulics as needed.
• Diagnose malfunctions using electronic and computerized diagnostic equipment.
• Follow safety procedures and handle chemicals in compliance with environmental rules.
• Provide reliable maintenance strategies and high-quality repairs.
