Job summary

The City of Conroe is seeking a Fleet Technician I to service a range of vehicles and equipment, from cars to heavy-duty trucks and small machinery. The role involves inspections, light repairs, and sometimes major engine or hydraulic work, with emphasis on safety and environmental compliance.

Candidates should have postsecondary fleet training or equivalent experience, and be prepared to obtain ASE, MACS, and Texas safety certifications within six months.

Qualifications

• Formal postsecondary fleet training or 2 years fleet experience.
• Obtain three ASE certifications within six months.
• Obtain MACS Freon installation, automotive AC and emissions certifications within six months.
• Texas Safety and Emissions Certification must be obtained within six months.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections and light repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment.
• Conduct major repairs including engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems as needed.
• Respond to weather-related emergencies and be available to stay at one location for an undetermined time.
• Ensure safe handling of chemicals and comply with environmental regulations.
