City of Colorado Springs seeks a Fleet Technician II to service fire apparatus, heavy equipment, light duty trucks, and a variety of passenger vehicles to support Fire Department operations. You will perform inspections, diagnostics, order parts, and repairs in a shop environment.
This position is subject to budget-required furloughs in 2026 and offers growth potential within the 2026 salary schedule. Starting pay will be within the posted hiring range based on experience and education.
In this position, you will be working in the Colorado Springs Support Services department on fire apparatus, heavy equipment, light duty trucks, and a variety of passenger vehicles to support the Fire Department operations. The Fire Department's fleet includes powertrains by Cummins, Ford, and others to a lesser extent. You will be required to perform inspections, run diagnostics, order parts, and perform repairs.
This position is subject to budget required furloughs to be implemented in the 2026 calendar year.

This position requires technicians to wear appropriate safety personal protective equipment and work in a shop environment around vehicles and heavy equipment with exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, and gases. This position requires manual and physical dexterity and the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods and to lift and carry 50 pounds occasionally.

Basic mechanic hand tools, welders, vehicle lifts, portable jacks, drill presses, metal sheers, metal break, drills and grinders, Snap-On modis for vehicles diagnostics, ProLink for diagnostics, and Cummings Insight for diagnostics.
