The City of Fort Collins is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Technician for the Transfort maintenance facility. You will work with a team of technicians, fuelers, and drivers to keep a diverse fleet in safe, reliable condition. The role offers a compresssed work week with a 2:00pm-12:30am shift and a 7.5% shift differential.

Ideal candidates have basic vehicle repair knowledge, own common repair tools, and can obtain a CDL within the first months of employment. CDL is required for some positions.

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of automobile and/or truck repair and service.
  • Ownership of basic vehicle repair tools (sockets, wrenches, pliers).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a CDL within months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses, repairs, and maintains heavy and light duty equipment.
  • Performs routine maintenance and major repairs.
  • Prepares new vehicles for service and installs components or special equipment.
  • Provides on-site and after-hours service as needed.

Job Summary

The City of Fort Collins Fleet team is looking for a Fleet Maintenance Technician to support keeping our vehicles in good condition so that they are safe, reliable, and can stay on the road. This position will work at the Transfort Maintenance Facility with a team of technicians, fuelers, and drivers in an up-to-date, well-equipped shop. Our fleet includes 50+ transit buses, both Natural Gas and Electric, and about 30 standard fleet vehicles that run in all kinds of weather and conditions.
This position works a compressed work-week: Either Monday - Thursday OR Tuesday– Friday, 2:00pm-12:30am; this schedules earn 7.5% shift differential pay. Uniforms, safety shoes, and safety equipment are provided. CDL, relevant technology training, and licensing are provided if needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Diagnoses, repairs, and maintains all types of heavy and/or light duty equipment.
  • Performs both routine maintenance of vehicles and major repairs.
  • Prepare new vehicles for service including order specifications, installing components or special equipment.
  • Provides customer service such as on-site service, after hours service, and special departmental requests for service.
  • Provides information for bid specifications and job estimates.
  • Researches part information, processes orders.
  • May perform required annual tests on vehicles/mechanical equipment and prepare the appropriate documentation.
  • Maintains or updates information on warranty repairs

Required Qualifications

Minimum Preferred High School Diploma or GED and or functionally related licenses or certificates

Experience Requirements
  • Three or more years of auto mechanical repair experience, or a combination of auto mechanical repair experience and vocational/ technical training in equipment and vehicle repairs and/ or electrical and mechanical systems.

    • Valid Regular Driver's License
