Job summary

The Town of Smyrna seeks a Fleet Tech I to perform maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs on cars, trucks, and off‑road equipment in a safe, efficient, and customer‑minded manner. Work will take place at the Public Works shop and other Town locations as needed.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and 4 years of related vehicle/HD truck technician experience. A valid driver's license is required; a CDL must be obtained within the first six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 4 years’ related experience as a vehicle or HD truck technician.
• Must possess and retain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Experience with engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, hydraulics and electrical systems is essential.
• Knowledge of DOT inspections and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs on vehicles and off-road equipment.
• Test operation prior to repairs and verify complaints.
• Diagnose malfunctions and repair to manufacturers specifications including engines, transmissions and clutches, suspension and steering, fuel and ignition, electrical systems, brakes, and HVAC.
