Job summary

Town of Smyrna is seeking a Fleet Tech I to maintain and repair cars, trucks, and off-road equipment with a focus on safety, quality, and customer service.

You will diagnose issues, perform repairs to manufacturer specifications, and conduct post-repair tests. Role requires a high school diploma and 4 years’ related experience; CDL within six months; DOT readiness; ability to lift up to 100 lbs; operate backhoes and trenchers; full-time position.

Qualifications

• Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Perform welding and cutting; use plasma cutter when needed.
• Complete DOT inspections and operate heavy equipment.
• Maintain safety protocols and documentation per work orders.

Responsibilities

• Repair vehicles and equipment to manufacturer specifications.
• Record mileage, hours, and parts; manage warranty claims.
• Test vehicles after repairs to ensure quality and safety.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections; DOT duties as required.
• Fabricate parts and assist with design as needed.
