Job summary

The Town of Brookline is seeking a skilled Fleet Technician to maintain and repair a fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment for the Brookline Department of Public Works. The role includes diagnosing gas and diesel systems, performing preventive maintenance, and conducting field repairs as needed.

Candidates must have a High School diploma with technical training and at least 2 years of heavy truck/equipment repair experience, plus a valid MA CDL Class B and Hoisting License.

Qualifications

• High School diploma plus technical training and experience with heavy truck/equipment repair.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and interpreting manuals.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair gas and diesel vehicles and heavy equipment, including hydraulic systems, brakes, suspension, transmission, steering, fuel and electrical systems
• Perform routine preventive maintenance such as oil changes, fluid checks, lubrication, and safety inspections
• Conduct field repairs and respond to equipment breakdowns during inclement weather or emergencies
• Install and service auxiliary systems such as radios, strobes, plows, and other accessories
• Operate trucks and heavy equipment to test and confirm repairs
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and service schedules
• Follow all applicable safety procedures and industry best practices
• Work is primarily in a garage setting with some fieldwork
