Job summary

The Town of Brookline is seeking an Automotive Parts Specialist / Fleet Parts Storekeeper to support the Department of Public Works’ Fleet Maintenance Division. The role focuses on acquiring, storing, and distributing parts, tools, and supplies for municipal vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities include managing inventory, placing purchase orders, and coordinating repairs with outside personnel while ensuring safety and accuracy of records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and five years of relevant experience.
• Experience with automotive parts procurement and inventory control.
• Ability to read technical manuals and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Ensure materials for vehicle and equipment repairs are available.
• Create and track purchase orders for parts and supplies.
• Maintain detailed inventory in a computer system and track hazardous materials.
• Track fuel usage and log fuel system data.
• Coordinate with suppliers and service personnel to procure parts.
• Keep the work area organized and safely dispose of waste and oils.
• Read manuals and work with laborers to order correct parts.
