Job summary

The City of Memphis is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of a City vehicle repair facility. You will direct mechanics and staff, ensure preventive maintenance, approve work orders, manage parts inventory, and monitor shop budgets and productivity as you travel to facilities for inspections.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent with 8 years in hydraulics, diesel and gasoline engines.
• 3 of the 8 years in a managerial capacity.
• Valid Class B Tennessee CDL (or out-of-state) required.
• DOT Alcohol and Drug testing rules compliance required.
• ASE Certification in Car/Light Trucks or Medium/Heavy Trucks preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs and coordinates the daily operation of one of the City's vehicle repair facilities.
• Supervises and coordinates all vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance services.
• Prepares work orders and obtains necessary materials.
• Inspects completed repairs for conformity with standards.
• Maintains inventory and records; inputs data in computer systems.
• Maintains shop budgets and productivity reports.
