Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• Five years’ fleet maintenance experience with two years supervisory.
• Master Mechanic certification preferred (ASE or equivalent).
• Valid driver’s license; Virginia license to be obtained within six months.
• CDL with School Bus and Air Brake endorsements preferred or obtainable within six months.
• Knowledge of fleet management software, inventory systems, and state inspection protocols.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills; safety knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance, repair, and replacement of school fleet vehicles and equipment.
• Supervise staff; manage maintenance and office operations; inventory control.
• Implement fleet replacement plan; ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare and monitor maintenance budget; track parts and tools; cost of ownership analysis.
• Collaborate with admins, vendors; assist with bids for purchases.
• Generate fleet performance and cost-efficiency reports; support after-hours operations.
