NC Department of Transportation seeks a Safety Officer II in Division 9 to evaluate heavy truck driver applicants, manage the fleet safety program, and conduct road testing, training, and certification of drivers. Responsibilities include safety training, orientation, and safety audits of crews and facilities, with emphasis on regulatory compliance.

Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in safety-related fields and two years of progressive safety experience, plus knowledge of OSHA standards

Competenze

Bachelor's degree with a major in safety management, occupational safety, industrial technology, or related physical sciences and a minimum of two years of progressive safety and health experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of State, Federal, and OSHA Safety and Health standards.
Experience developing, coordinating and presenting training programs on safety topics.
Ability to recognize unsafe conditions or acts and determine corrective action.

Mansioni

Evaluate heavy truck driver applicants, including processing and interpreting driver records checks.
Manage and run the fleet safety program in the division; coordinate and conduct road testing, training, and certification of heavy truck drivers.
Conduct safety-related training including new employee safety orientation and fleet safety training.
Maintain equipment and injury statistics; assist in Workers' Compensation program administration.
