Job description

M&S Engineering, LLC seeks qualified candidates for the position of Certified Safety Representative to work out of our Woodlands, Texas location. The incumbent will be responsible for a multitude of safety related duties covering all territories serviced by the Woodlands location, including Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, and portions of Texas. This position reports to, and operates under the direction of, the Company’s Safety and Compliance Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide occupational safety expertise to teams of engineers, field technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Champion a safety culture and ensure work sites and offices are designed, maintained, and operated in a manner to minimize risks of hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal and local governmental environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations, including any client specific safety rules and regulations.
  • Evaluate working conditions and operational practices and inspect the work environment and equipment to identify safety hazards and ensure conformance to established occupational health and safety rules and requirements.
  • Direct, develop and deliver training programs to ensure employee’s knowledge, understanding and adherence to safety, health, and environmental regulations pertaining to their work and work environment.
  • Perform and review incident investigations for all incidents and near misses.
  • Perform documented job site inspections and safety observations.
  • Conduct EHS audits and ensure all EHS issues identified during audits are resolved.
  • Assist with maintaining files in compliance with OSHA regulations and in compliance with our policies including accident/injury files.
  • Communicate to the appropriate personnel, in a timely manner, any hazards, incidents, etc. that may affect the safety activity of the job site, business unit or Partners.
  • Responsible for review and compliance of all job-site specific contracts and customer documents related to environmental health and safety.
  • Be proactive in the prevention of accidents/incidents, managing work-related injuries, and the identifying and elimination of unsafe behaviors.
  • Help provide support and safety coverage to all M&S locations, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Requires an Associate or Bachelor degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or related equivalent experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in construction safety, hazard recognition, accident investigation, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with an engineering firm and/or field experience in the energy sector is highly preferred.
  • A recognized safety designation from the following list including, but not limited to, ASP, CSP, CUSP, CSST, OHST, or COSS is REQUIRED. Proficiency and proof of completion of OSHA 510 and/or OSHA 511 may be substituted in lieu of the required designation. Applicants without at least one recognized safety designation or the OSHA 510/511 proficiency need not apply.
  • Experience in evaluating/interpreting OSHA, MSHA, EPA and DOT regulations and NFPA, ANSI, ASTM, ASME standards.
  • Must be interested and have the ability to influence and drive change related to safety in the workplace at all levels.
  • Maintains appropriate safety trainer status such as CPR, First Aid, and AED, driver training, H 2 S monitoring, NFPA 70e, CFR 1910/1926, electrical safety, and other safety related training, as required.
  • Ability to obtain trainer credentials to conduct all required safety related training in-house.
  • Maintain safety databases, training records, and training requirements for all personnel
  • Track/complete/submit OSHA 300/300A logs, as requested
  • Maintain safety consortiums such as Avetta and ISNet, as requested
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.
  • Up to 50% of overnight travel is required.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Must have integrity and trustworthiness, with a strong moral and ethical compass
