Job summary

TMC Transportation in Columbia, SC is seeking a Safety Manager to oversee safety and compliance for a driver group, ensuring adherence to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

You will conduct on-scene accident investigations, coach drivers on hours of service, cargo securement and claims, and lead safety reviews. The role also involves evaluating applications and coordinating on-call coverage.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree preferred or related transportation experience.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with stress tolerance.
• Familiar with Bendix dash cams and Safety Direct.

Responsibilities

• Oversee on-scene accident investigations and determine fault.
• Coach drivers and staff on hours of service compliance.
• Manage cargo claims investigations and vendor resolutions.
• Approve or decline driver applications.
• Lead safety review meetings and retraining when needed.
• Participate in after-hours on-call rotation.
• Conduct road trips to inspect securement, hours, driver performance, and related safety issues.
