Job summary

City of Indianapolis is seeking a parts room clerk responsible for ordering, receiving, stocking and issuing inventory for all fleet assets, from small engines to heavy equipment.

You will work with the inventory system to verify stock levels, prepare purchase orders, and assist technicians by locating parts and processing paperwork. Proficiency with forklift operation and safety is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with inventory management and parts systems.
• Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Forklift operation and OSHA-related safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Receives, identifies, unpacks, stores and issues all parts (stock and non stock), equipment, and/or materials.
• Labels new stock upon arrival.
• Works counter for technicians to issue and take information for ordering special requested parts.
• Prepares paperwork for group leaders/foreman for notification of special ordered parts.
• Runs reports from inventory system and uses finance system for purchase orders.
• Updates inventory in IFS and relabels stock as needed.
• Contacts vendors for quotes and places orders by phone or online.
