Qualifications

• One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-05) in the Federal Service - that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge - skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Transportation Assistant.
• Specialized experience includes: entering vehicle data and maintaining vehicle records - including fuel use - maintenance history - and accident data; preparing accident reports or damage claims and coordinating repairs with vendors; tracking vehicle usage - mileage - maintenance - and repair costs to identify trends or problems affecting fleet operations.
• Note: one year of work is 35-40 hours per week; part-time experience credited proportionally.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and evaluates the effectiveness of the motor vehicle fleet.
• Collects data on vehicles and reviews reports related to mileage, repairs and maintenance, and costs.
• Reports GSA mileages and reviews GSA bills for accuracy.
• Monitors vehicle utilization and maintenance records to identify trends and problems.
• Identifies procedural changes to improve fleet operations.
• Maintains vehicle data in databases and tracks monthly mileage, fuel purchases, and maintenance costs.
• Prepares GSA Accident Reports for vehicles involved in accidents.
• Ensures VA drivers are properly licensed and trip tickets are completed.
• Filing trip logs, receipts, accident reports, photos, and repair slips.
• Organizes and maintains filing systems and identifies training needs for employees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Work Schedule: Full time - Monday- Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
