Job summary

Job description

This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Charles George VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Asheville, North Carolina, in the Fleet Section of Environmental Management Service (EMS). This position includes a Selective Placement Factor (skill, knowledge, ability or other worker characteristics basic to - and essential for - satisfactory performance of the job). Selective Placement Factors are a prerequisite to appointment and represent minimum requirements for a position. Applicants who do not meet it are ineligible for further consideration for this position.

The Selective Placement Factor for this position is: Possess a current valid state driver's license. (Please DO NOT provide driver's license. We may not accept pictures. This requirement will be verified during interview).

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-05) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Transportation Assistant. Specialized experience for this position includes: entering vehicle data and maintaining vehicle records, including fuel use, maintenance history, and accident data; preparing accident reports or damage claims and coordinating repairs with vendors; tracking vehicle usage, mileage, maintenance, and repair costs to identify trends or problems affecting fleet operations; reviewing vehicle-related invoices or billing for accuracy; and ensuring maintenance and cleanliness are managed on all fleet vehicles.

NOTE: One (1) full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part‑time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
